Last night, Sade embarked on their 2011 World Tour opening in Nice. This was the first time on stage in 10 years.

Sade releases the video “Babyfather“, the second single from Sade’s sixth studio album Soldier of Love, which recently went platinum. In the reggae-flavored number, Adu sings of a male figure who can be the father of a woman’s child and a strong male role model, without necessary being a lifemate. Frontwoman Sade Adu told People that “Babyfather,” is “about how great it is to be a parent, what a great honor and privilege that is, and what a terrible thing that is to waste. As long as you feel good about yourself, you can be a good parent, and then it becomes an endless fruitful cycle,” she says. As for the sound of the new song, “I wanted it to sound quite rough and scrappy, not too honed,” says the Grammy-winning singer, 51. “The beginning,” says Sade, “feels like the ice cream van coming down the street”. News of Sade’s first studio album since Lovers Rock has been welcomed by music enthusiasts worldwide. Due to her unique fusion of R&B and smooth jazz, the Nigerian born singer has created timeless classics such as Smooth Operator, No Ordinary Love and The Sweetest Taboo. Sade co-produced the single Soldier of Love with Mike Pela, and wrote it along with longtime collaborators Andrew Hale, Stuart Matthewman and Paul Spencer Denman. The track features a pulsating and anthemic drum beat along with the haunting vocals that Sade is known for.
