Tennis phenom Rafael Nadal made history Monday after beating Novak Djokovic (6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2) to claim the 2010 U.S. Open title, becoming just the seventh man in tennis history to win every Grand Slam at least once. Nadal is the second-youngest player to win nine Grand Slam titles and accomplished the feat in the second-fewest number of major tournaments (26).

Spain’s Rafael Nadal, the world’s top ranked player, defeated Tomas Berdych Sunday 6-3, 7-5, 6-4, for his second Wimbledon championship in three years. The victory is his fifth straight in a Grand Slam final and eighth Grand Slam title overall.

Top-seed and defending champ Serena Williams captured her fourth Wimbledon singles title beating Vera Zvonareva in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, Saturday. Second seed Venus Williams, a five-time Wimbledon singles champion, was eliminated on Tuesday by an unseeded player ranked 82nd in the world.

Headline... NADAL & SCHIAVONE WIN 2010 FRENCH OPEN

Rafael Nadal won his fifth French Open title Sunday, beating the No. 5-seeded Robin Soderling (6-4, 6-2, 6-4). Nadal improved to 38-1 at Roland Garros, with the only loss to Soderling in the fourth round a year ago. The win Sunday gave Nadal his fifth French Open championship, his seventh Grand Slam title overall, and earned a return to No. 1 standing in the men’s tennis rankings.

17th-seeded Francesca Schiavone became the first Italian woman to win a Grand Slam title, beating No. 7-seeded Samantha Stosur (6-4, 7-6) in the French Open final Saturday. Schiavone’s win on Saturday makes her the oldest woman since 1969 to win her first Grand Slam championship, and the oldest woman since 1998 to make her top-10 debut.
