The Alabama Crimson Tide defended its top-seeded ranking and perfect season by defeating the Texas Longhorns 37-21 in the BCS National Title game held Thursday night in Pasadena, CA. Alabama (14-0) was led by Heisman winner, Mark Ingram, and backup running back, Trent Richardson, who rushed for a combined 205 yards and 4 TDs, giving the Tide a comfortable edge over their opponent for a majority of the contest. Longhorns’ quarterback, Colt McCoy, left the game early in the first quarter due to injury. While his backup, Garrett Gilbert, threw four untimely interceptions, ultimately securing the title for the Tide. The win Thursday night gave Alabama its first title since 1992, its eighth since the advent of the polls in the 1930s and its seventh Associated Press championship.
